VA’s failure to diagnose leaves veteran in agony

ST PETERSBURG, Fla (WFLA) – Air National Guard veteran Mike Henry suffered from debilitating pain for months.

For months he begged the United States Department of Veterans Affairs for help.

Among the things he heard at the C. W. Bill Young VA Medical Center at Bay Pines, “We can’t find anything wrong with you.” “You’re a faker.” “We’re going to try nothing and see how bad it gets.

“I’m thinking I’m going to sit here and die,” Henry said.

Mike’s neck and face would just double in size from swelling that began in June.

“That’s very dangerous, I mean your throat can close up, asphyxia you know!” Mike’s wife Shelly Henry pointed out.

Mike claims one doctor grabbed him by his swollen neck and shook him, accusing Mike of just wanting drugs.

A neurologist who only looked at his chart but did not bother examining the patient dismissed Mike’s complaints and wrote Mike had no neurological issue and required no further attention.
